Shipped worldwide, large selection of wines
In homage to Joseph Gregoire, the first Lieubeau, who was left an orphan on the porch of the hospital in Nantes in 1816, our emblem is a child in a hat, a symbol of family history and nature. This range of fresh, fruity and elegant varieties illustrates the wonderful diversity of the Loire Valley. This wine has a hazelnut and brioche nose and a balanced, structured taste with notes of white fruit and toast.
Our step towards organic viticulture
“A good wine starts with great grapes”. We really believe in this winegrower's saying and that is why in 2015 we started converting our vineyard to organic.
Building on the sustainable viticulture methods we already used, we have gradually returned to working the soil and taking care of the vines with natural elements (mineral, vegetable and animal origin), with the utmost respect for the terroir.
Observe and listen to nature
With our team, and in harmony with nature, we take care of the vines all year round, depending on the different seasons. The desire to achieve the very best fruit quality dictates our work, which includes short pruning, tilling, bottom planting, trellising, defoliation and grading at harvest.
Our organic certification (AB) and sustainable agriculture certification (Terra Vitis) illustrate our commitment to biodiversity. Our daily actions are guided by observation. The weather station and vineyard mapping solution, which we developed ourselves, give us a better understanding of the terroirs and vintages and allow us to adapt our viticultural methods to each plot.
Understanding the vineyard and cultivating the best plots
Our region is unique in many ways, from its geological diversity and numerous microclimates to its unique grape variety Melon de Bourgogne and the ancestral know-how of aging the lees. With this heritage in mind, we promote precise viticulture and winemaking, with a focus on both nature and cultivation methods.
We have always sought to identify, understand and grow wines from the most emblematic Muscadet plots. We protect and preserve the heritage of our old vines by using mass selection to propagate them, especially for our Muscadet Crus. Our wines are our interpretation of the diversity of the Muscadet terroirs and the uniqueness of our region.
Wines made for aging and gastronomy
In the winery we separate the different press fractions; this technique, inspired by the making of champagne, is very important for our white wines, especially the muscadet, and is not seen anywhere else in the region. The use of natural yeasts helps to express the character of each plot of the terroir, especially for the Muscadet Crus.
Lees aging, an ancestral technique in the Nantais region, produces exquisite white wines with aging potential and great with Food . During aging, the technique of bâtonnage (or lees stirring) is sometimes used to add extra freshness, body and aromatic complexity to the wine.
