The grapes are picked early in the morning before 9am, from vineyards with calcareous clay and refractory soils, giving Sauvignon grapes good fruit acidity and complexity.
The vineyards are rich in fossils and therefore have a calcareous soil, which gives balance and good mineral notes to the wines

The small town of Amboise is located on the Loire River. Here is both the mighty castle, reminiscent of a brilliant history, the tomb of Leonardo da Vinci and the Pierre Chainier winery. Maison Pierre Chainier was founded in 1972. Since the 18th century, the family has been involved in viticulture in Bordeaux.
The company is today run by Pierre as chairman of the board, his wife Anne looks after the family properties Château Pocé and Château de la Roche. The eldest son is the CEO and also owns Clos de Nouys, a renowned vineyard in Vouvray. The family owns a total of about 200 hectares of vineyard in the Loire, with a focus on Sauvignon blanc. Pierre Chainier also collaborates with other Loire growers to have a broad Loire portfolio in their business activities.
