Tasting Note:
EL Esteco Chardonnay Don David Reserve Wine bright golden yellow color with greenish highlights. The taste of wine is soft, generous, well-balanced, with notes of pear, pineapple and nuts, which smoothly pass into the fresh aftertaste. The wine has a soft, delicate scent with notes of pineapple, apple, tropical fruit, honey, vanilla and butter. Delicious wine as an aperitif, but also as a pair for snacks, salads, fish dishes.
The Don David range is the flagship wine of the Bodega El Esteco estate, named in homage to winery founder David Michel.
Terroir: Each selection in the Don David range comes from vineyards wholly owned by the estate in the Cafayate Valley. Vineyards sit at elevations of over 3,000 feet and many sit above 6,000 feet. The power of the sun at these altitudes combined with very little moisture or vermin leads to wines of unique purity and concentration.
Vinification: Concentration and varietal expression are the goals of both the red and white wines in this range. The red wines undergo a thin maceration of 5 hours that extracts extra concentration, followed by more than a week of cold maceration in the steel tank and 9 months in the cellars in a combination of French and American oak.
Bodega El Esteco is located in the Calchaquíes Valleys, a beautiful natural landscape characterized by the sun, mountains and vineyards. The Valleys consist of Cafayate and Chañar Punco. A secluded and hidden place in the middle of the valley of Calchaquíes where this EL Esteco Chardonnay Don David Reserve is Made .
A unique landscape different from what is known. In this inhospitable area , 1,700 meters above sea level, with extreme conditions where altitude and thermal amplitude are combined, excellent quality grapes are obtained for the production of wines of great character and unique personality
Vineyards in the Calchaquíes Valley at high altitude
A winery that has a clear respect for the Salta tradition, a fusion between the legacy of ancient civilizations, the Spanish influence and the Creole spirit. Surrounded by old vineyards, the iconic Spanish-colonial style building with galleries and internal patios captures the elegance of the typical colonial architecture of the north of the country. The centennial building stands in contrast to the most up-to-date wine production technologies housed in the winery; such as concrete barrels and stainless steel tanks, passing through the always poetic French and American oak barrels, giving us wines of different styles, tastes and aromas.
Located in Salta and located at more than 1,700 meters above sea level, it is one of the emblems of the Calchaquíes Valleys. Its beauty lies in its landscapes with curious reddish geological formations. The stony soils present a natural challenge that requires special study of each piece of land and then each planting of vines carried out by hand.
Poor alluvial soils, sunny mornings and mild afternoons in the summer months that allow long ripening periods and a marked thermal amplitude make Cafayate an exceptional terroir. The vineyards are worked day after day, creating stories that are reflected in the harvests, brands that influence the quality of the grapes and from which careful and perfect wines are born.
