Shipped worldwide, large selection of wines
Tasting Note:
Aromas of forest fruits, blackberries and blueberries and vanilla. Powerful but very harmonious and balanced wine; nice aftertaste
The Gigondas used to be the wines that looked up to the Chateauneuf du Pape. But nowadays this is no longer the case, the wines are made increasingly fresher and more accessible by new vinification techniques and equipment. Although it always remains a good wine to keep, it can also be drunk quickly.
Gigondas is an area in the southern Rhone where the Grenache grape variety is known. The largest share in this blend is therefore 80 % grenache and is often supplemented with Syrah and Mourvedre. There are other grape varieties planted that can only make up a maximum of 10 % of the blend, but are rarely used in the gigondas. are few cinsault, counoise, vaccarese, terret noir, piquepoul noir.
Gigondas is located at the foot of Dentelles de Montmirail, it is a nice village to visit. A very old village, with a beautiful village square, a beautiful characteristic piece of France.
The soil in Gigondas consists mainly of Lime and Marl, mainly formed from the Dentelles, a stepped mountain range with plateaus, from here a lot of lime and marl has also rolled down, which has mixed with the subsoil present there
Near the river Ouvèze on the western part of the Gigondas, the soil becomes more alluvial, there are some lieux-dits and soils with boulders and gravel, as we also find in the more southern Rhone area .
