Tasting note:
A soft, fresh, smooth taste with a seductive, almost jam-like fruitiness of gooseberries.
As early as 1964 Avelino Vegas started making wine from the famous Verdejo grape. Only in 1980 did the region get its own protected designation of origin Rueda, under the name Montespina Vegas produces a drifting white Sauvignon Blanc
Winery founded in 1950 by Avelino Vegas in the Segovia village of Santiuste de San Juan Bautista. The winery started its activities producing wines with grapes from the area. Today, several members of the third generation have joined the company's leadership. Cristina Vegas, granddaughter of the founder (biotechnologist and holder of the National Diploma in Oenology from the University of Bordeaux) is responsible for oenological management.
The winery manages century-old, low-yielding vineyards in several unique locations. In the case of Ribera del Duero, these soils contain a limestone and sand component, which, in addition to a special climate, produces a Tempranillo of exceptional quality. In the case of the DO Rueda, the sandy and stony soil is excellent for the natural water management of the vineyard. Thermal jumps of more than 20 degrees during the summer contribute to the Verdejo from Segovia having an unparalleled uniqueness.
