Shipped worldwide, large selection of wines
Tasting note:
Complex characters of red fruits, violets and silky tannins. This wine is aged for 12 months in barrel, giving it a delicate spice of French oak. A generous, rich wine with elegant acidity that has enormous ageing potential.
The history of Chambert is associated with more than 2000 years of Cahors Malbec. Browsing through the archives, one can trace part of its history back to the 10th century!
Chambert's fame reached its peak in the 19th century (in 1854 the vineyard covered 392 Ha) and declined after the death of General Bataille in 1914 when her sister (a nun) inherited the estate and the vineyard became overgrown. After that the entire vineyard replanted in 1974 and grown organically.
Today, the Chambert vineyard covers 65 ha of the best terroirs of the highest part of Cahors, of which 45 ha are located directly around the château.
The average altitude above sea level is 300 metres and only the best south-east facing slopes are planted with vines.
The vineyard area for making AOC Cahors is 80% Malbec and 17% Merlot. 3% of the estate is planted with Chardonnay.
The planting density of the vineyards is 4500 vines/Ha and 7400 vines/Ha for the vineyards planted since 2007.
