Castle of Raousset
The Château de Raousset is located in the town of Chiroubles, in the heart of Beaujolais des crus, 60 km north of Lyon and 20 km south of Macon.
The village of Chiroubles, located at an altitude of 400 m in a circus-shaped environment, is located on a soil of granite nature. Built around a 12th century church, the village marks the center of an area that climbs west to the slopes of Mount Avenas, the summit of which at 700m dominates the village and houses a chalet tasting
The great ampelographer Victor Pulliat
Chiroubles celebrates each year during the Fête des Crus (late April early May) one of his children, the great learned ampelographer Victor Pulliat, born in 1827, whose work is devoted to the precocity scale and the grafting of varieties of vines are world famous; He had collected in his domain of "Temperate" more than 2000 varieties!
Three names: Chiroubles, Fleurie and Morgon
The castle of Raousset is located in the lower part of the town between the village of Villié Morgon and that of Fleurie.
The estate is part of a vast area of 65 hectares, including 35 hectares of vines vinified at the chateau and divided into 3 appellations: Chiroubles, Fleurie and Morgon (Beaujolais crus).
Almost the entire estate is planted with black gamay with white juice on more or less clayey granitic soils, depending on the appellations, with the Morgon appellation having the richest soils.
Recently, part of the Domaine has been planted with Chardonnay and produces Beaujolais Blanc, 20 years ago this type of wine was already produced there.
