Fratelli Grimaldi winemaker in Northern Italy Piemonte.

The Fratelli Grimaldi company is located on San Grato Hill in Santo Stefano Belbo, in the heart of the Moscato d'Asti production area.

A production tradition that to this day involves the whole family in the management of the 20 hectares of fully owned vineyards, spread over four of the most suitable hills in the area : Moncucco, San Grato, San Maurizio and Bauda

. The history of the family began at the end of the 19th century, when the great-grandfather Carlo Grimaldi was already growing vines and producing wine in Cossano Belbo.

It was the vicissitudes brought about by the arrival of the two world wars that interrupted the children's wine-making activities, but not the cultivation of the vine that continued despite the difficulties.

And it was precisely this passion for viticulture that led Grandfather Ilario to move with his family to the neighboring municipality of Santo Stefano Belbo, where the company is still located, in search of the best quality land and thus their family tradition to maintain.

It was back in 1989 that Sergio, with the help of his parents Ilario and Vittorina and his wife Angela, started making the first bottles of Moscato d'Asti on his own, giving them the nickname that identified the house: Ca' Du Sindic ( mayor's house).

The entry of Paolo and Ilaria in the vineyard and in the cellar, as well as in the promotion and presentation of the wines, has represented in recent years a clear desire to continue the philosophy and their values. First of all, maintaining a strong and respectful bond with the territory, allowing them to reconcile and best express that character and expressiveness that make the land unique. In this context it was decided to change the name of the company from Ca' du Sindic to Fratelli Grimaldi .

Paolo's entry into the business, at just twenty-one, led to the birth of our first Brut Rosè sparkling wine, hence the name VENTUNO. And since 2008, our cellar has become a point of reference not only for Moscato d'Asti but also for sparkling wines. Thanks to the success of the long line VENTUNO Metodo Martinotti (12 months), we decided in 2015 to make our first Metodo Classico 36 Months sparkling: the Alta Langa DOCG .

In every moment of the work in our vineyards and in all the activities that take place during the year, we always pay the utmost attention: from pruning, over thinning, to the careful summer selection of the grapes, each phase is aimed at obtaining and homogeneously ripening the best bunches.

By shredding and vacuuming the grass in the middle of each row and also between one vine plant and another, we can avoid the use of herbicides and thus find no residues in the final product.

Even the harvest is still done entirely by hand, collecting the grapes in crates, a method that allows us not to stress them and to ensure their integrity until they arrive in the cellar for de-steking and then crushing.
