Tasting note:
The Scansano vineyard combines the advantages of its hillside location and proximity to the sea, offering wines made largely with Sangiovese, locally called Morellino. This wine from Val delle Rose, owned by the Cecchi family, has been aged in barrels for 12 months and offers a beautiful aromatic complexity with rose, cedar, cherry stone, graphite and undergrowth. Great elegance reveals itself in this Tuscan red.
In 1996, Cecchi bought the Val delle Rose winery in the small town of Poggio la Mozza, which is in the productive heart of Morellino di Scansano. At the time of the takeover, Val delle Rose had 25 hectares of vineyards.
Cecchi's intervention was comparable to a minor agricultural revolution, as the agricultural techniques used until then could not guarantee the batch-to-batch consistency necessary for the viability of a winery.
The study of the available land – a practice subsequently carried out by many other companies in Maremma – revealed the enormous potential of this terroir, so much so that the company decided to expand the land with vineyards to approximately the current 100 hectares. . Here is the star variety Sangiovese.
