LA MAISON CATTIN, A FAMILY HISTORY

The beginning, in other words, the choice of wine as a destination

François CATTIN

At the end of the 17th century, François Cattin, born in Porrentruy, Switzerland, settled in this small Alsatian village Voegtlinshoffen, 10 kilometers south of Colmar. In 1720, François Cattin decided to become a winemaker in addition to his job as a builder. The next 11 generations carry on his legacy and that's how the family business started!

Antoine CATTIN

Around 1850, Antoine CATTIN decided to focus exclusively on the winemaking profession. He marked the beginning of the specialization carried on by all his descendants. One of his sons, Joseph, took over the family estate.

Joseph CATTIN

At the end of the 19th century, the phylloxera plague began to seriously damage the vineyard of Alsace. Joseph Cattin, who had successfully studied, devoted his time to the fight against this scourge.

He became one of the pioneers of Alsatian viticulture by being awarded the diploma of « Vignoble modèle ». His brother, Théodore, pursued gastronomy by founding the LA CIGOGNE restaurant in Paris.

Known for its famous Alsatian gastronomy, this place is well attended by both the Parisian upper class and many foreign guests. This place then became an excellent storefront to promote Alsatian wines from his brother Joseph.

Joseph Cattin as a brand was born!

Joseph Cattin in the Vineyard

Antoine CATTIN

After Joseph's death, his son Antoine took over the business, surrounded by 7 hectares of vineyards. Renowned winemaker for the quality of his fine wines, Antoine really took care to preserve the body and unique character that creates the originality of Alsatian wines.

Jacques Cattin's new breath at the turning point of the 21st century.

Jacques and Jean-Marie CATTIN

In 1978, Jacques and Jean-Marie, grandsons of Joseph Cattin, took over the family estate; Jacques, as manager, and Jean-Marie who manages the vineyards. Jacques began to modernize the Cattin Winery; a new dynamic has emerged. In 25 years, the means of production have been completely transformed and the vineyard is spread over 60 hectares.

The new generation and a dynamic winery that exports worldwide

Jacques CATTIN Junior

Jacques Junior joined the company in 2007 after studying agronomy and viticulture. Working with his father, Jacques Cattin Senior, Jacques junior took charge of the winemaking and finance department. His wife, Anaïs, graduated from a prestigious business school, and with strong experience in international trade, she joined the company in 2012. She is currently responsible for the international sales department.
