Wine from the Douro
Because Port can only be made up to a set quota, wine is made from the remaining harvest, albeit from grapes of very high quality. This premium Tinto is also made from these grapes: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz, the most desirable varieties for making quality wine. These grape varieties are known to produce wines with concentrated, intensely fruity flavors, which are very suitable for barrel aging and storage. The Vila Real has therefore been matured for 12 months in American oak. The scent is full and complex and has notes of blackberries, herbs and cassis. The taste is intense and firm and has notes of red fruit with well-woven velvety tannins
