Vineyards are managed with the utmost respect for Chile's pristine yet fragile environment and are certified sustainable by Wines of Chile. At the moment, approximately 50 hectares are cultivated 100 % organically. The drip-irrigated vineyards are a source of water during the summer months, preserving the diversity of birds, animals and insects that would otherwise not be possible. As of 2020 vintage, all LFE wines are vegetarian and vegan. The family is one of Colchagua's larger rural employers, supporting projects to encourage the workforce to develop and thrive, including a new 150-acre vineyard in the super cool Leyda Valley, the closest estate to the Pacific Ocean in Chile. New wines made from dry, old vines in Chile's southern regions of Cauquenes and Itata, including orange wine from Moscatel grapes, are also helping traditional farmers maintain a more profitable way of life.
LFE remains a family-run winery, with two generations actively involved in keeping the brand synonymous with quality and traditional family values.
The family tradition of a great winery shines not only through its achievements, but also through reinventing itself over time. With more than 40 years of painstaking work, we focus every day on quality production with the best technology, in accordance with the highest international standards, and the goal of providing an unforgettable experience with every bottle of LFE wine.
We firmly believe that a good wine starts in the vineyard; our viticulture team is paramount to the quality of LFE wines. Under the direction of Eugenio Cox, Agricultural Director, they are committed to careful vineyard and vine management throughout the year, ensuring they deliver the best quality grapes to the wine cellar.
Nicolas Bizzarri is LFE 's Chief Winemaker, responsible for making each wine together with his team of oenologists. He believes that wines should show their origins, and that the art of winemaking is the freedom to use his intuition and taste to create each LFE wine.
LFE also works with renowned viticultural consultants, Matt Tompson and Philippe Melka.
LFE's winemaking and production facilities are located in the heart of the Colchagua Valley, on our Puquillay Estate. We combine time-tested traditional processes with state-of-the-art technology, enabling maximum quality control and assurance, to create our award-winning wines.
On site are four wine cellars each with two oenologists, a temperature-controlled barrel room, and our bottling, storage and shipping warehouses.
Our bottling and shipping facilities are operated to some of the most stringent global standards and certifications, with the aim of ensuring the quality and stability of each wine delivered.
With the most modern bottling lines in Chile, we can produce up to 35,000 bottles per hour in various formats and sizes.
