The hill of Corton, a hill topped by a forest, overlooks the Grand Cru vineyard of Corton and the towns of Ladoix-Serrigny and Aloxe-Corton in the Côte de Beaune. This is the first area south of the town of Beaune. Corton is the only Grand Cru red from the Côte de Beaune. The southeastern part of this vineyard produces Grand Cru whites and is called Corton Charlemagne. Famous Premier Cru vineyards are Corton Bressandes, Corton Renardes and Corton Clos du Roi
Founded in 1731, the Maison Bouchard Père et Fils has had one of the most beautiful wine estates in Burgundy throughout its history thanks to the regular purchases of vines in the best terroirs. In 1811 "Bouchard Père et Fils" was officially founded. Purchases were made in the course of the 19th century, after which the Bouchards focused more on the management of their domain in the 20th century than on its expansion. From 1969 the purchasing policy was renewed. In 1995, the Bouchard family passed the torch to another historic Champagne family: the House of Champagne Henriot. The new team took charge of the vineyard and completely rejuvenated the house and wine styles. Since then its popularity has continued to rise and it is now regarded as one of the best wine merchants in Burgundy; several of his wines have been rated alongside some of the best in history. The vineyards are managed by Thomas Seiter, who became the new general manager in 2018. The vineyards count 130 hectares (and again the same amount in grape purchases), of which 12 hectares are Grands Crus and 74 hectares Premier Crus. With nearly 50 hectares, spread over 23 climates, Bouchard Père et Fils has been the largest owner of Beaune Premier Cru for generations.
