The Cave de Lugny , whose roots go back to the 18th century, when the wines from the vineyards of Saint Pierre, Les Crêts and La Grande Vigne were already famous, was officially founded on January 30, 1927 and was the second wine cooperative founded in the region Mâconnais, a year after that of Saint-Gengoux-de-Scissé..

Today, Cave de Lugny 's three wineries are all specialized. The winery in the famous village of Chardonnay is dedicated to the production of sparkling wines. At Saint-Gengoux-de-Scissé we mainly vinify red wines. At Lugny we vinify and mature the white wines, and we take care of the bottling, packaging and shipping of all our appellations. Our wines have been available in the UK and USA for over 40 years and are now enjoyed all over the world.

Cave de Lugny therefore played a crucial role in opening export markets when it sold the first bottles of "Mâcon" wines in the United States and England 40 years ago. This international distribution was obviously important for the development of the winery's reputation, but it also benefited the wine region as a whole by boosting sales of all Mâconnais appellations.

Cave de Lugny wines are currently available in 21 countries on 4 continents; Great Britain, the US and Belgium are our top markets. They are also widely available in Europe and are especially popular in the Netherlands and Ireland. Even the Australians are showing a growing interest in our authentic Chardonnays...!
