Chateau Corbin Wines
Throughout the different eras in the estate's history, the place has never ceased to evolve or stand still. Today it boasts a fantastic heritage built up over the centuries, while its architectural beauty has been enhanced today by renovation works where modern features blend harmoniously with the historic.
The castle has a neoclassical style and is adjacent to the original part of the building. It was built in the 18th century on behalf of the then owners of the estate.
Fantastic remains from the 16th century part can still be seen in Corbin: a tower containing a stone spiral staircase, an attractive dovecote, an enchanting guest house, as well as farm buildings and even a tasting room from the same period.
However, Corbin's origins date back to the 15th century. According to legend, these lands once belonged to the Black Prince, who fought against the French at the beginning of the 100 Years War.
Although Château Corbin was at the heart of one of Saint-Emilion's greatest seigneuries, it was also the seat of dynamic, vibrant architecture that moved with the times, a characteristic that could also describe the production of the estate's wines.
Château Corbin has been owned by the same family since 1924. It was passed down from generation to generation by female heirs and today it is owned by Anabelle Cruse, the fourth generation, and her husband Sébastien Bardinet.
As a child, Anabelle spent harvest time in Corbin. Later, as a student, she came to the estate every week and enjoyed sharing precious moments with her grandmother, Marie-Josephe Blanchard Giraud. It was these moments spent together that helped Anabelle develop a love for the place, the vineyards, the estate - Corbin as a whole.
Since then, thanks to hard work and investment, she has been able to give Corbin its soul, its strength and its identity, while at the same time increasing the prestige of its terroir, always with excellence as its ultimate goal.
Anabelle Cruse Bardinet, trained as an oenologist and who has managed the estate since 1999, has owned the estate since 2007. During all these years she has consistently worked to improve and enhance the estate and its wines, replanting plots, restructuring the site and creating a new plot-managed VAT area. The challenges were great, but Anabelle met them with precision and passion, drawing on all her knowledge.
The style and precision of Corbin's wines have advanced dramatically, while Anabelle has uncompromisingly followed her intuition and beliefs: harvesting the grapes at optimal ripeness to produce fine, elegant wines that exhibit both power and delicacy, while retaining freshness of the fruit flavor and aromatic character are retained. purity. Every decision she makes is aimed at achieving excellence in her wines, while maintaining the utmost respect for the terroir.
