The history of Langoa Barton is inextricably linked to that of Léoville Barton, as Hugh Barton, the grandson of an Irish wine merchant who settled in Bordeaux, first bought the Langoa estate and then part of the Léoville estate. These two famous vineyards of Saint-Julien still belong to the Barton-Sartorius family. The Château Langoa-Barton vineyard, classified as third growth in 1855, is located east of Château Talbot and north of Ducru-Beaucaillou. Léoville Barton and Langoa Barton are vinified in the same winery and share a second wine: La Réserve de Léoville Barton.
