Located on the highest plateau in the area, the Château Belair vineyard borders the town of Saint Emilion to the northeast and the Ausone vineyard to the southeast. Until 1997, it belonged to the Dubois-Challon family, who were also co-owners of Ausone. It was purchased by the Moueix family in 2008 and was renamed Château Belair-Monange, after Christian Moueix's grandmother, Anne-Adèle Monange. Ausone and Belair were very close in terms of cultivation and vinification methods. Improvements in quality since 1976 have allowed this château to regain its position among the elite wines of Bordeaux. Note that the vineyard of Château Magdelaine is merged with that of Château Belair-Monange.
