White wines from the Cotes du Rhone

The elongated area between Avignon and Vienne extends the Côtes du Rhône appellation, on both sides of the Rhône it crosses 250 communes and 6 departments. It is one of the oldest wine regions in France, with viticulture dating back to 600 BC. The Rhone is usually viewed as 2 areas, the northern part with the grape variety Syrah known from Cros Hermitage and Cote Rotie and the Viognier . In the southern part, the wines are mostly Blends with the Grenache in the lead role.
